I was introduced to Austin-based musician SaulPaul during his through-the-roof performance at PersoniFest this year and have been a fan ever since. Watching SP, as he likes to be called, bring Personify’s president and CEO Eric Thurston up on stage to rap with him was nothing less than an EXPERIENCE (stick with your day job, Eric!).
For over a decade, SaulPaul, the “Musician with a Message” has entertained and educated audiences, blending his voice, guitar and loop pedal to create a personalized live show for every audience. A combination of performance and improv, he encourages audience participation to create a unique melody, a catchy hook and a smile during his show.
SaulPaul’s mission is to make music, make a living and make history. This resonated with the Personify team and we were thrilled to join SP and his team on June 12 for the fifth annual SaulPaul Day of Service, a day dedicated to giving back to those most in need in the Austin community.
Personify employees volunteered at two Title 1 elementary schools in Austin this week. Title 1 schools are schools receive financial assistance due to high numbers or percentages of children from low-income families, to help ensure that all children meet state academic standards. While at the schools, we helped host a festival and a pop-up concert by SaulPaul with activities that included an art wall, photo booth, spin wheel and more. Our #personifam enjoyed the visible excitement and thrill of the kids’ faces, and even did some hula-hooping!
Austin is a tight-knit community and I appreciate the opportunity to partner with community leaders like SaulPaul and deliver smiles to kids in this community. I am already looking forward to the next event!
